CNC Programmer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs for various machining operations, ensuring precision and efficiency. This role requires a strong background in Mastercam, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge to produce high-quality components using CNC milling machines and lathes. The CNC Programmer will collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and maintain strict quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and write CNC programs for milling machines, lathes, and other CNC equipment using Mastercam
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
  • Optimize machining processes through lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine performance; make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement design changes using CAD software
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of tooling and machining equipment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages, Mastercam preferred
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with machining processes such as CNC milling, CNC lathe operations, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and tooling selection.
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling setups, geometry calculations, and precision measuring instruments like bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity.
  • Strong math skills relevant to machining tolerances and geometric calculations.
