Position Overview
The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of automation and control systems in industrial or manufacturing environments. This role focuses on improving system reliability, efficiency, and performance through programming, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
Develop and maintain electrical schematics and control panel layouts
Support commissioning, startup, and validation of automated systems
Perform root cause analysis on equipment and system failures
Implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and engineering
Support upgrades, retrofits, and system expansions
Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations
Maintain documentation including specifications, change logs, and test reports
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Experience working with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar
Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial networking
Understanding of electrical schematics and control panel design
Knowledge of motion control, robotics, or industrial automation systems is a plus
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and automation systems in a production environment
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools
